In response to Fairfax County’s need for affordable workforce housing, the County is considering what could be a great opportunity for Fairfax County government and school employees. The Residences at the Government Center would provide high-quality, rental housing to those within eligible household income limits. In today’s dollars, the limits range up to $69,300 for an individual, $79,200 for a household of two, $89,100 for a household of three, and up to $99,000 for a household of four. The apartment community would have a wide range of below market rents for various income levels starting at $806 for studio apartments, $868 for a one-bedroom and $1,139 for three-bedrooms (in today’s dollars).
Situated in a wooded setting on the 86 acre Fairfax County Government Center Campus and incorporating green building, low impact and sustainable design features, the community’s amenities would include: a fitness area, children’s play room, public outdoor courtyards, swimming pool, club room with billiards/multifunction room, business center, conference room, coffee bar, and trail connections. In addition to being connected to the Government Center by a trail system and located across the street from Fairfax Corner’s restaurants, shopping and movie theaters, the Residences at the Government Center would be close to transportation networks and the Fairfax Connector bus system.
